Would 245/40-17 Tires Fit on the Front?

Hello everybody, its been a long time since I posted. I hope everyone is doing good! I'm looking to purchase some tires for my e23. It's currently lowered with BBS RC090 Style 5's 17x8 with 235/45-17 tires all around. I would like to put 245/40-17 tires all around but, my concern is putting these tires on the front, the rears I'm not worried about. Will they rub against the front strut tower with 245/40-17 tires?

Here is the front wheel on 235/45-17 tires:

wheelimage.gif Shape is probably close enough to be fine. I'm sure someone will weigh in with experience though.

Thanks for taking the time to upload this picture and responding to me. I think it is going to be real close but, who knows.Yes, I hope someone else can chime in.

235/40/18s hit the splash guard at the rear of the front wheel well when turning once I lowered my e23 w/ Dinan/Mtech springs. This is on an 8" wide wheel with ET13 backspace. I am now running a 225 front tire w/ no rubbing. I probably could have ommitted the splash guard w/ 235 and solved the rub, but I wanted to keep the guard. I also test fit 245s on the same wheels and they rubbed by a lot. Hard to say if 245's will put you over the edge if you are not rubbing w/ 235's.

    Did you end up trying?

For stock height 745i with SLS . Will I get away with it?

Will it adversely affect steering/handling and... longevity

235/45-17 are best for 8" wide. Depending how low car sits and alignment the 245/40-17 may rub on inner wheel well at full lock on one side or both and forward or reverse or both.

I tried 245 40 17 tires and they rub on the front strut tower. You will need to run spacers in order to make them fit.
