I'm about to purchase a 2012 535 from a private owner that has 57,000 miles and is in pristine condition. My last BMW was a 2009 328 that came with a CPO. I plan on having the car inspected by a BMW dealership before buying it, but I wonder if it is advisable to purchase an extended warranty. From what I can tell, a good one runs about $5k. I'm not crazy about adding that to the price of the car.
Thanks
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride! It all depends on how long you're planning on keeping the car, as you know BMW parts are not cheap. If you're able to do repairs and maintenance on the car yourself, then an extended warranty is probably not needed. If you're planning on keeping the car for quite some time and getting it serviced / repaired at the dealer, a warranty will likely save you a good amount of $$...just my 2 cents. Other members will likely chime in as well. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can assist with any future part needs.

If you buy the warranty and use it enough to justify its purchase, you'll kick yourself for buying the car. If you buy the warranty and don't use it enough to justify its purchase, you'll kick yourself for buying the warranty.
It's a crap shoot. But the warranty companies - on average - don't spend more on repairs than you pay them for the warranty.
