Decode The VIN Number

I have a 79/320i and it's been repainted. The title, p/s fender, and dash only have "7" Numbers for the VIN.

On-line searches indicate I need (17) Characters to complete a VIN Search

Q. Anyway to decode/reverse lookup the 7-VIN?

on-line searches are incorrect, a 1979 E21 only has a 7 digit vin. what are you looking for?

I have found a few decoders but they aren't helpful. Very limited info.

Ask someone at the BMW dealer, they may be able to pull the build sheet for your 79 if there is one. If there is one, it should have some additional info online"decoders" like realoem do not have (color, interior upholstery and possibly options). Since you are in Dallas, I'd try Classic BMW in Richardson first.
