Hi. Hope someone can help me. The bonnet latch on the right side (facing the car) is not releasing. I cannot get the bonnet open. I've read many forums and watched a few YouTube videos, but all of them seem to deal with the V8 engine or the older models. With the V12, the parts configuration seems to be different and thus the latch is largely inaccessible from beneath the car. Also read somewhere that I should try removing the grill, this doesn't work - behind the grill is another cover that is blocking the latch. Also read that I should try yanking the cable on the opposite side, problem there is that I can't get the other side more that a centimetre/inch open, thus can't reach that cable either. Some car genius please help me
Moved this to the sub forum for your car. You will get more eyes on it here.
It is possible that the plastic like sleeve has slipped up the metal housing or the sleeve for the cable has slipped through the plasticky holder at the hood release inside the 7, so there is not enough movement on the cable to release the farther latch.
I had this problem a little while back mine.
Here is a pic of my fix, as well I lubricated the latches and replaced both cables but not the cable between the 2 latches.
You may have to take apart the kick panel and pull a little harder with a pliers or vise grips on the cable to release the second latch. When you do get it loose, lubricate the latch. You may also want to have a replacement cable on hand.
I hope this helps you out
