    79 - 320i,

    Q?...79 320i Transmission Electric Conections - Help

    I have 79 320i w/Standard 4-Spd. I have a third wire w/a small conector but I can't fine were it plugs up, it's closer to the shifter.

Note: I have the reverse switch plugged in and the connection at the front top bellhousing...

Plus I'm not getting in reverse lights or turn signals

Thanks for the help in advance.

Is it for the emergency brake switch behind the e-brake handle? I believe that wire is brown/blue.

    79 - 320i,
Problem solved...connection inside the car under the shifter cover, completed the reverse light connection.

The wire connector on the top of the 4 speed transmission is for 'ignition vacuum advance' while in 4th gear. It's a nice function for a tad better mpg and performance while in 4th gear. (assuming there's no vacuum leaks on this circuit)
