Does anyone in the SF bay area (more specifically, in the South Bay) have a UUC RSC36 exhaust I can hear in person?
I currently have a stromung exhaust. I’m interested in hearing how the RSC36 compares to the Stromung. Thanks.

I'm in San Rafael and recently replaced my Stromung with an RSC36; If you're unable to find anyone closer to you, and are ever in the area on a non-rainy day, I would be happy let you listen to it.

stromung sounds deep and mellow. RSC can sound angry/nascar boomy but not as uncivilized as a triflo or systemU which takes the cake. I never heard or ridden in a car with the Rogue DMS but I read that's also uncivilized sounding at times.
I have the RSC36... it's definitely a bit of a rowdy exaust with some rasp and pops on the overrun and when shifting at high rpm. However due to the sound cancelling properties, with the windows up it's very civilized inside. You can hear it a bit, but it's not really going to drone inside the cabin. Windows down and it sounds quite loud... I'd say close to something like the Eisenmann race or UUC System U or maybe Supersprint Race. I've had it for several years and I absolutely love it. I'd say it's definitely more aggressive than Stromung. It's a civilized 'race muffler' in sound.

Having had both, I wouldn't even hesitate going with the RSC36. It's by far the best sounding exhaust on the M50 style engines. Almost no drone, sounds great at higher RPM's, and deep while in the lower rev range.
I might know someone interested in that Stromung if you're going to end up selling it BTW. PM me if you end up getting rid of it.
Sound is subjective however, so I hope you get to hear both of them.

Can you even run an aftermarket exhaust in California? What about the AA gen III exhaust? Tame while driving, screams at higher RPMs....

The RSC36 is the best fitting catback exhaust I've seen. Aligns perfectly and tucks up nicely under the rear of the car. Saves a bunch of weight over the stock system. Very good fabrication quality.
So why did I reluctantly take mine off and return it after a couple of days? Two reasons. First, it was loud, really loud. Second, it interacted with my shorty exhaust manifold to produce an unbearable drone at highway rpm. The drone problem may or may not apply with the stock manifold — I have no way to know. But if you're at all sensitive to general exhaust noise — or your neighbors are! — this is not the exhaust for you.

the drone goes away after 3-5K miles.

I've had one for many years and many miles. The exhaust sounds great, love the tone, and the drone IMO is more than tolerable, especially given the price of the exhaust, but it's there and doesn't go away @ 1800-2300rpm. It's the way-cheaper version of the RSC36 if you can live with a little low rpm drone. The RSC though is, IMO, perfect.
