    Supercharged Coyote E46 Build Thread

    Hey guys,

Moving my build over to this because it is more fitting.

    Background on the car:

    2002 325i

    Steering:
    - Amazon/ebay angle adapter
    - Extended E36 control arms
    - Stock Steering rack with spacers
    - Stock Tie rods

    Suspension:
    - Cheap (I know) ebay coilovers, plan is to replace these before next season.
    - "hard" poly subframe and diff mounts
    - Subframe reinforcement (epoxy method)
    - Front sway bar removed (for now)

    Now onto the swap,

I recently removed the M54 from the car, and am going to be swapping a 2015 Mustang GT engine and Transmission (Mt82 6 speed) equipped with a Roush supercharger. I will talk more about this at a later point in the thread.

And now I am beginning to test fit the Coyote. So far everything seems like it will work. Upon initial fitment I noticed a few things are going to have to be dealt with:

    - 1. OEM Brake Booster is in the way, hitting rear valvecover. Solution is to replace with Chase Bays Booster Delete Kit (already ordered)
    - 2. ABS deleted for clearance issues.
    - 3. Trimming is necessary on the shielding around the abs unit. This should be minimal, just to help gain clearance for header.
    - 4. Steering shaft is going to hit exhaust manifold, so a custom one will be fab'd. I have not decided what design is necessary yet, but will report back.

    Photos of initial fitment below:

You can see here the rear exhaust manifold stud is inside the abs shield/tray LOL. needs to be taken out.

As of now that's all I have for you guys! I will be posting a video as well of the swap. If anyone has any questions let me know! I know it is too early to have much information for you all but I have to start somewhere!

Also, I can't tell if the photos are loading or not. It works on chrome but not windows explorer? If anyone could let me know if they see it that would be great!

I think I fixed it now by loading them on Flickr first. Let me know if it works!

Update, removed the brake booster and trimmed The shield that was in place for more room.

Not sure if you’re planning on competing but I’m pretty sure that chasebays master isn’t allowed in some series.

This swap is sweet! I’m amazed that it even fits in the bay.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to look into that. As of now though I don't have any plans for competition. If I get to that point I will have to make some other changes as well I'm sure.

NP, yeah its something about it using a single res for both front/rear vs the oem style that splits them.

Yeah I just looked into it. If I ever decide to compete, I basically we'll just have to swap out the master cylinder to a tandem setup. It's about $250 for new stuff. But for now I'll just keep what comes with the kit to get the car running and driving.

    Thanks!

No, you're good! Anyone who can actually do the job you are undertaking doesn't need to see every step.

Update!! Brake booster kit mounted for test fitting motor. I definitely am going to be either modifying the stock oil pan or buying a slimmer one. Motor is going to raise probably a little bit higher than in the photos but it seems like the hood is going to clear.

Opinions on purchased vs custom?? I'm trying to keep in mind the ability for me to sell a kit or point someone in the direction of a pre-manufactured part. I already know the manifolds and engine and trans mounts will be custom so those will definitely be a part of a kit if I decide to come up with one of course if there is any interest.

If you can see in the one photo of the oil pan the front subframe is not in position due to hitting the oil pan. I have a rough line drawn out with my finger (LOL) of where I would need to trim. Basically take the radius out of the stamped oil pan.

After the oil pan clearance issue is solved, off to motor mounts and exhaust manifolds!

Ugh... Does it look do-able with them? Not just being able to fab up something that will fit, but something that you can actually install and get at the fasteners to hold them on? I mean, you could always section out some of the frame, but that takes away from the bolt-on style of the build you were going for I think.

There's room for sure, it's just completely custom. I thought I could modify longtubes but I don't think I'll have room. They need to go more straight down before they kick back compared to normal coyote headers

Update/Change of plans, I'm going to be modifying the stock pan instead of buying an aftermarket one. That way I can make sure it's what I need.

This photo here is with the subframe dropped about a half an inch. So whenever I cut out that little notch I should be able to raise it back up into normal position and still have clearance for the engine and pan.

    Update!!

I have the oil pan off. Waiting to cut that (decided to cut factory due to the moroso pan having extra width which I'll need for header clearance) and do oil pump gears and chain sprocket.

In the meantime I started working on the dash and surprisingly the mustang dash seems to fit pretty well. I'll have to make custom mounts of course but so far everything seems to line up pretty well I just have to check out the shifter clearance and will definitely have to move my hydro back.

New video up on the YouTube channel as well so go check it out!

PURE AWESOMENESS!! That mustang dash in the E46 idea is friggin' sweet!

Do you have any idea if you still have the potential for keeping the windows working and such? The damn body control module or whatever it is that those signals run through..

Yeah that's the plan! But we will see. That will be the last of the project haha.

    Another update:

Ordered a brand new oil pan and cut it where needed. As well as started to tack up the new plate to patch the oil pan. (Excuse my welds)

Pan is obviously not finished I have to make another plate as well and fill in some of the ribs.

Plan is to finish up the oil pan, get it cleaned out really well, paint the exterior to prevent rust and then move onto replacing the oil pump gears and sprocket on the engine before putting it into the engine bay for hopefully one of the last times!
