Drove home with no trans failsafe or any other issues. Hooked up the laptop and found I had a 106 - Brake Switch code from the DME and a 151 - Brake Switch CAN code from the EGS. Both with 1 occurrence where the car wasn't running. So I cleared the codes and I'll have to keep an eye on it. Seems like something acted up right at key-on this morning.

I had a complete failure of a set of Billstein PSS/B14 after only about 50k miles. Car had been parked for 2 months while I waited for parts and motivation. Got around to finally taking them out and putting in a set of KW V1s. Only the front passenger side failed totally ( like came apart in 2 pieces gushing oil everywhere failed ) driver side had been making the usual billstein clunk for years on and off. Did not have time to do the rears, but the prep work of getting all the interior stuff out of the rear is done, so when I have nice weather and time to do them, it should go smooth.

Busted my water pump on Tuesday. Totally shredded the belt but the shroud was intact. Towed it to my mechanic. Decided to do the front control arms while he had it. $1800 bucks later I drive home today and the moment I hit 60mph crazy vibrations and shaking. Text my mechanic asking WTF? He told me he rotated one of my tires to the back and the vibration was a busted belt on a bent rim.

Ugh. 1800 bucks and it drives worse... that depressing. I guess I need to pony up for new rims and tires like I planned.

I received rear door handle today. Took the handle off of it and put in my drivers doors, since someone has replaced the handle part with black one.

Now it's nice and original color.

Finished the e38 suspension refresh. KW V1s from Bilstein PSS/B14. The car is transformed, for better or worse. Much more comfortable, much less responsive. Car is more cruiser mode now, which I am OK with. Just got to unlearn the muscle memory of how quick it used to change lanes on the highway.. Turning feels very 2 stage with the way the weight settles. I have the ride height dead in the center of the min/max range on the collars if it helps anyone. Which is about exactly where I had the PSS. Rear looks a smidge low. Also will need to adjust in a week or few after things settle, and get an alignment, and all that good stuff. There were a few other links/bushings that looked pretty worn out I should address too.

Related, free for local pickup. Rear only Bilstein PSS/B14 w 50k miles, for e38/e39 near 07035. PM me if you want them. I'll post something else about it in the classified area too.

Found and Installed a New Engine Cover with Sound Padding for Baby. Replaces the badly cracked one with no padding that came from the Original owner. I can now open My Hood in Public again. LOL

Put in a UUC front sway bar. Most unpleasant 6 hours I've had working on a car in a long time... Also broke the secondary air pressure hose in the process. Taped it back together and then went inside and ordered a new one. At least the tape seems to seal it well enough to last a few days until the new one arrives.

I'm not quite sure why, but for some reason that angle and those wheels make it look extra tall even though the fender gap says it's clearly not.

Because current wheels are 8,5" and 9" wide... 285 would look a bit stupid. And my front tire is 235/45-19 so the 265 matches with that. Might be putting the Styling 95's from my E65 to this, when I buy something interesting for E65.

And probably gonna buy Lowtec springs and shocks, as I have had those on two of my earlier E38's.

285 would actually look great.. put the 255 in front and 285 rear.. its the same as running 235 front and 265 rear, but would look much better with 255 front and 285 rear... many people including myself run that setup with no issues.

No, he's right that a 235 / 265 is a better fit for the wheel width he has. 245/265 would work nicely on what he's got as well. A 285 is too wide to sit well and perform well on a 9" wide wheel. FWIW, I run 255/275 on 9 and 9.5" wheels. The 255s sit perfectly on the 9s, the 275s are good on the 9.5, but a 265 would be better (or a 285 on a 10).

And I see no point on going wider tires since I now got new tires all around. Next wheels will probably be 8,5/9,5" so these same tires will do just fine. I work in the tire shop, so I have rolled some rubber on different wheels over the years.

It's probably because I have 10mm spacer at front and 12mm spacer at rear. So front is 8,5 ET4 and rear is 9 ET6. Rear isn't gonna fit when I get it lowered, but I'm not fan of the Styling 121's and they are temporary anyways.
