New speakers installed in the deck lid. And new upholstery on deck lid / sunshade panel. what a pain that was. All back together. Also got a flashing SES friday. Felt like a bad coil/plug, running a little rough like down a cylinder. Scan confirmed cyl 1 shutting down. New plug, and new / spare coil popped in. All good now. Also put the radiator fan back on. I had taken it off when my Ps pump died, and never got around to putting it back on till now.

Nothing great or special. Dayton DC130A-8 5 1/4" from parts-express. They were not a perfect fit. They were a little smaller around. Needed to drill new holes to mount them. I sealed the original holes ( and some cracks ) with silicon. And the magnets were a little larger than would fit in the cups. Needed to stretch them out with a heat gun and a series of wine bottles. It doesn't sound great, but it sounds good enough, and better than the nothing-at-all that was in there previously.

I had the e-onon on my E39. Took it apart and it fitted nicely on E38, well not "nicely" yet, since I'm waiting for the navigation screen frame that I ordered... But it will work on E38 also.

Never seen E38 before without OBC, well anyways I retrofitted one to my 728iA today. Just need BC stalk and some instrument cluster coding.

It's from their website and it's E39 model. You have to take it apart, so you will lose the warranty. Mine was already out of warranty so I was tempted to try it out and it works. I today received the original 16:9 frame and gonna modify it to make it fit more better.

This site doesn't like the word of the radio, so can't post the link.

Replaced fuel tank... After pressure washing the old one, it was very clear where it was leaking.

Spa day for my e38, Washed, Polished and Waxed. Next thing up is the interior, gonna be fun!

I wonder how i am supposed to get the halogen headlights to produce ''xenon'' like light, i have put all blue halogen bulbs in it but still, just yellow.
Tried to swap over the whole Xenon setup of the 5 series, unfortunately something is not working correctly because first the produced light is blue, then it turns white and then yellow again, so yeah, crap.
I thought about LEDs but i dislike them having as Headlight bulbs since they are flickering, so any clue how i can get my yellowish light to turn blue with halogen bulbs?
The rear end looks all modern now, with the new taillights including 6000k LED numplate lights, but the front looks still a bit old-school, it doesn't look bad don't get me wrong but its time for some refreshing especially if i'm planning to retrofit the front grill to full chrome facelift grills.
Any help would be appreciated especially after that fiasco of the attempted xenon retrofit.

I had to replace starter motor, because the solenoid started to act up... Anyways got the android radio installed too. Fits nicely enough for me.

Some minor modification was needed to the original frame.

Heater control valve was leaking like a sieve so replaced all the lines in the back feeding it and borrowed the one off the 750 so the 740 can live. Idler pulley needs replacing in the 750 so it’s laid up anyway.
just swapped out the aux pump, was clearly leaking from this, will try a new oring and putting it back on the 750.
    PITA place to get to.

I started the tear down for the timing chain guide project and tomorrow the valve covers are off for a powder coat job. I'm just waiting on parts and tools to arrive before I continue on, hopefully I can knock this out over the next few weekends.

I started removing more of the coolant system this evening and when I pulled off the connector to the thermostat I found it to be in very poor shape. It looks like all the strain relief has completely crumbled away and I'm worried about it failing. Has anyone ever replaced on of these or know where I can even find this part?

Good reason to go with the 88c mechanical tstat with no electrical connector...

Is this the part you are referring to and do you just not plug in that connector at all then?

Thanks, looks like they are out of stock for now but the price is a lot better. Not sure I’ll need the part anytime soon at my current pace though haha.

Remove everything you can and get ziplocks and labels. Its very very time consuming and you wont believe how many parts will crumble in your hand, if its inside and made of plastic you better change it.

    Thanks! 😁

Yes they certainly are the Vossen cv3rs.
They are 18", running them right now on 245/40s since they came straight of the 5 series that can be seen in the pictures.
Car sits slightly lower than with the 16" winter set but looks very nice and the ride quality is almost as good as the 16" though hard to tell since the car isn't perfectly aligned still.
