Yeah u got no idea what ur talking about purp. why would ebay not be the place for a e38 like mine? thats silly
I went and test drove this car today. It was amazing. The exterior was in shockingly good shape.
Interior was dirty, but would probably clean up well. Some cracks on some of the surfaces and the headliner was sagging in the back. Everything seemed to work except the rear power headrests.
It drove great except for a jerky 3-4 upshift. No leaks, no warning lights, no weird sounds or smells.
I decided an E39 isn't for me, but hopefully someone here buys it.

Is this someone on here? Probably on E38 Empire...

Noticed a sharp drop in private party ads on CL with the new $5 charge for ads. And CL expired a bunch of ads that had been placed before the 15th when the charge for ads was started.
Yeah that is an E38 Empire car, I have seen it on there.
What? $5?? Get outta here...
That's a bummer but I was wondering how they could run that ship for free. I guess I'd pay $5 for an ad, still a lot cheaper than a newspaper and reaches a lot more people. That said I used to love perusing the paper classifieds. Dinosaur.
They've charged for job postings and certain other things for a long time, they're just expanding it to cars now too (I think they always charged for dealer ads, just not private party). I'm hoping that most of the decent sellers will just pay the $5 instead of bailing over to Facebook and such, but the $5 should keep some of the garbage out.
It should keep out most of the spammers and people that post the same car 27 times in one area. But it apparently dosnt' keep out the weirdos, like this:

can't believe someone paid $5 for this ad...

Yep it's mine just kind of thought I'd go a different way after many years of Great service from my sport it's time to move on of course I can't give it away but I have dropped the price. Just the paint and interior was over the asking price...so we will see what happens.... if someone wants a car that needs nothing ( maybe some stock Mpars ) here it is. The stereo does sound Awesome .......
The single din is so much better then the stock out of date DPS system after 2 monitors 2 MKIV's 1 MK3 trying the monsoon upgrade I just wanted something that would sound at least as good as my 2017 f150. I don't miss anything about the out of date stock equipment, I use my iPhone for everything, navigation, music but opinion's are just like you know what, everyone has one......
LOL yea I chuckled to myself when I posted my single DIN trash talk, because you chimed in 1 minute before my post went up, which means I was actually writing my 'op-ed' post right while you were posting... But even if I had seen your post first I still would have commented This, coming from Mr. Stock-OEM whore, who reverted his entire 740i back to factory condition, because the PO installed TV tuner, back up camera, subwoofer, ipod integration, flipped ± shifter, angel eyes, euro tails, clear turn signals, strong strut, Sprint booster, M5 steering wheel, and chrome m-pars... Back to crappy audio and GPS system, but I love my restoration projects!
Your car does look great though, and is modded the 'right' way in my opinion...GLWS

Funny that is a whole list of stuff I would take off myself ( I do like the strong strut because it looks Great with my Zionsville, black valve covers ) I tried to keep the stock look or at least real European upgrades, like the front armrest ( when I bought this car the Motorola flip phone still worked ) even all the clear lights are from Germany. I just got fed up with the stock equipment and I wanted to try something that looked stock but all those Chinese lookalike ones were crap and I didn't want to waste even more money. It would be hard to bring it back now since everything is gone, dsp amp, subwoofer, CD,door speakers all gone. I always use BMW fluids ( coolant, oil, etc. always BMW ) the car was always a So Cal car purchased new in North Hollywood at Century BMW no accidents .....
I'd love to see someone make a good android device or other setup that just plugs in where the nav unit goes and can use the stock GPS antenna, display, etc. to allow for a factory-like upgrade but that still talks to the ibus to get the board computer data, etc. And ideally has good audio output options for those that want to ditch the stock DSP amp setup.
This is as good as it's going to get:

Doesn't seem like people here have had much luck with Avin. When it first started advertising here it looked like finally we would get a Great replacement for the stock head unit, the first thing I did was look for their advertised address in Los Angeles it doesn't exist so basically there's no backup just email it's just another Chinese unit and cost $800.00 so that was my reason for going with a pioneer system the only thing I really lost was the ability to set the clock and date in the dash display I still have all the hidden functions and my head unit has day / date
Kind of agree with you. When investing in any Nav System the key is: How long can you get support? I'm a stickler or OCD (Depends on your viewpoint) that everything must work on the car. If it's installed and has a function it needs to work or come out of the car. Right now I just use a GROM their App and the Smart Phone Lays perfectly in front of the Cup holder. It cuts in the Radio and gives me instructions so I can even store the phone in my Euro Armrest and not look at it. I have to admit I like the functionality of the Avin and have looked at the Pioneer and other units but they just don't look right and don't "fit" the "Classic" look of the car. IMHO
