    BMW E12 M52TU swap

    Hey guys, hows everyone going?

I'm a crazy mf that put in mind to upgrade an old timer E12 (1st gen) to make it better and safe, and probably pave the way to put something nasty under the hood in the future (maybe an S5x? Or an M6x? Who knows?), and so far we have "successfully" swaped the engine and gearbox (a getrag 250g, from the e36s).

The engine is as stock as it could be when it was in the e46 323i that donated it, but I'm having some trouble with the rest of the project and would like to hear from you all

    - ECU: for the ECU we are having some trouble since we swaped the original one for a programable one (its called Pandoo, a Brazilian company makes it but seems to be a whitelabel from some ecu factory).
Here I wonder if its possible (and wise) to use the original one, that I could get easily, or to keep the programable one using the right parameters, which is my great doubt. Is there anywhere that I could find things like the values for point x RPM, or injection times, and this kind of stuff to help me improve my actual map? I could also share here images of my actual map so you could help me, if possible

These days im having trouble with the idle (its now round yet...) and the cold start. The car dies fast if I dont lightly press the gas for a few secs and slowly depress it. But im also worried to advance too much, or too little, the engine and have problems such as melted pistons.

    - GAUGES: with the swap I've lost my speedometer, that was read in the gearbox, but with this new engine and GB, it should read from the diff. Unfortunatelly, my Diff is an stock E12, which doesnt allow the read. Is there anyway to solve this?
The RPM is reading, but wrong. I believe thats due to the fact that we are using the original rpm cable which was for the 4c, and now we have 2 more cylinders. Is this easy of a fix?
Also, my temp gauge is dead because i use the exit from it to feed the ECU. Is there a way to read it on the panel as well?

I have other issues but wont bother you so much with them for now (such as suspension and brakes).

I can post more pics in the future, including the maps )

    Thank you very much!

    Best,

Interesting project, and seems to be mostly completed already! :-)

I would recommend to use the original ECU. You need the EWS module, key chip etc but this makes sure you don't have any issues with the mapping etc..
For gauges one could construct an signal adapter to the ones that are out of reach. Outputs are coming from the original ECU, but they most probably do not match with what the instrument cluster is used to work with.

    Good luck!
