To begin with I think you should explain "The Zwolle is in Holland. That will save many of us some time as it will limit the amount of people who can help you. A differential weighs approximately 95 pounds so oveseas shipping is probably out of sorts.Which transmission to you have.? There are 2 that can be. There are different differential ratios. Most of the sideloader differentials, that is how they are referred to, that are appropriate for the pre 82 cars, are a 3.07 ratio. These go hand in hand with a dogleg or close ratio gear box. Should you have a standard overdrive 5 speed gear box a 3:45 ratio differential is more in order. These are less common. I think you should post which gear box you have and and where you are located, then those of us that can help you can reply .

    hello,

    thanks for your replies.

as bert already said im from zwolle what is a city in the netherlands.
and yes its a "side loader differential"

im not looking for a complete differential, just the differential that is inside the case, i already found new bearings and the right crown and pignon wheels.
so if somebody know if there was fitted original an lsd then i would love to have the oem numbers, or if someone know a second hand or aftermarket lsd thats fine for me too.

hope to hear from you guys!

Side loader LSD's are rare and expensive. Additionally, there are not many ratio options. Most were bought by E9 racers. I swapped out my rear subframe from the e12 chassis to the e28 chassis and this was simple. I then bought an e28 LSD. There are many more ratios and they are far easier to source. Additionally, they run at 50% to 30% the cost of a good sideloader LSD.

wait. what ? an E28 based rear sub-frame will bolt up to E12 based body mounts ? or is there some modification / fabrication involved...

No modification, no fabrication, just a little fiddly. Then you can pick diff ratio's and buy nice and cheap 3.45 LSD's. It was done as part of my S38B38 engine in build. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...assis-d-633CSi
