So I'll keep this short for the moment as I am newly registered on here and cant post pics currently, still need to figure out what I need to do to be able to share progress photos with you guys. The basics of it though are it's a wide body but not your typical cheap bought kit, it's all hand built to what I was looking for. It's going to be a strictly track car and I have a very long time to go before completion but hopefully you guys will appreciate some of the work being done. I look forward to sharing it with you all.
Could any one help me out with the specifics of how to be able to post attachments? Is it based on something like length of membership or a certain number of required posts? Thank you in advance everyone
you need 25 posts before you can attach pics, its to minimize spam

Awesome thanks for the info, I guess in going to start contributing more to the community and hopefully soon I'll be able to share with everyone
So I'm still trying to figure out how to add pics, hopefully soon I can get some up

Not sure if this will work but I'm giving it a shot. If it does work, please everyone keep in mind I know I have a very long way to go with this project so keep the flaming to a minimum lol
goo . gl is the part of the link with the multiple asterisks. If anyone knows a better way of me to share the pics please let me know
you need to host them somewhere and then do [ i m g ] your link [ / i m g ] without spaces in the code

Thanks, I'm still working on navigating this and still trying to get this to work. I'm wondering if part of my problem stems from doing this all from my phone

Trying to figure out why the link changes a section to asterisks once I post it

Hopefully the pics are posted right now and you guys can see the start of my project. Since no one has made any comments about me "destroying" an e36 yet I'm almost wondering if the pics aren't able to be seen
They loaded, this forum isn't as active as it once used to be.
Looks like a lot of work done and ahead of you, keep making progress and posting updates. Feedback and responses will come.
You said this was a "track purpose build" what are the plans for power/suspension etc
IG @Bsaintmedia | Cammed LS6 Swapped E36 M3 "The GMW M3"
I'll be keeping the m50 in it but have plans for forced induction, nothing crazy but hopefully 350-400 reliable whp. Still doing research but leaning toward s50 cams, forged rods and pistons, cometic head gasket, arp studs, aeromotive 255 fuel pump... torn between megasquirt or the miller war chip depending on my budget when the time comes. As far as suspension I have a new set of BC coilovers just waiting for warm weather to be installed

Very cool project, keep the updates coming!

Updates will be a little slow going for the next 2 months due to weather in New England but I'll keep you guys updated every step of the way

What made you want to build your own widebody kit instead of buying an aftermarket kit? And are you basing yours off any kit or just winging it completely
A few reasons, first I wanted something that wasn't available for everyone to have, second is I work on sheetmetal fabrication so I own all the tools and have the knowledge of how to do it, third is sometimes i struggle spending money on things that i can make myself lol all the aftermarket kits are fiberglass that tend to crack and cost more than my expense of building out of sheetmetal.
As far as design, I've always loved the PTG car so I took some thoughts from there and started sketching it out on paper. After several weeks I finally settled on the design I'm doing. Not overly aggressive and with any luck I want it to look like it could have been a factory style design and not just a ridiculous kit.

Very cool! Wheels look badass. Style 5 faces with custom barrels?

Thanks I appreciate the positive feedback from everyone so far. And yep those are style 5 faces, the rear barrels are from the original style 5's and they have had the front lip machined off and the faces have been machined to securely mount the barrel on the rear side of the face. The outer lips are custom

i'd skip the cometic and go cut ring. You also shouldn't need rods/pistons for 350/400hp. Lastly i'd look more into what you want to do for tuning. I have never read anything great about the WAR chip option, megasquirt is def an option and many guys are doing/have done it. The last option is a tune from 1 of the normal options (RK, 22RPD, Technica, etc...) This may be the easiest option.
I have actually been looking at a JE cutting head gasket since my last post. Seems most people are finding them more reliable.

Very cool project and it deserves more compliments and traffic. I believe this sub-forum doesn't get as much visibility as the model specific pages. Every thread with updates and modifications is useful information worth reading but the rare projects like yours with custom fabrication and imagination is much more impressive than your average "build" threads which are simply spending money and bolting on parts. There are some impressive builds in the forced induction, track car and chassis specific sub-forums worth reading.
