Happy New Year, guys.
I'm getting ready to swap parts from the M54B25 onto the M54B30, i.e, xi oil pan, motor mount brackets, etc. The M54B30 seems to be a ZHP but that's no biggie, parts-wise, from what I understand.
Still, others have BTDT and might have some tips for me. For example clutch kit. I guess I will stay with a stock Sachs or LUK kit. Some question as to which kit to get: one for a M54B25 or M54B30. Some vendors show the same part number for both engines. I am reusing the 5 speed (with new input shaft seal, shift shaft seal, the usual). The back of the new engine gets a new RMS and a trans input shaft pilot bearing since the engine came out of an auto car.
I need to check the dual mass flywheel for reusability. The clutch disc showed some unusual (to me) wear. Will post pic. This car had a new clutch put in under the PO a few years ago. LUK clutch.
Anyway tips welcome, thanks.

Go with the larger M54B30 clutch kit. Fits the existing DMF.
What are you planning on doing with the DME? Leave it as is or tune it for the M54B30 engine?
1999 2.8L Z3 Roadster,
2000 3.0L Z3 Roadster,
There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
Thanks for the tip on the clutch kit. I will have the DME reflashed for the M54B30 ZHP. If that is something that I can't do myself, I understand that BMW Excluservice in Rockville, Maryland near me can do that. It will need to go in anyway for Maryland safety inspection prior to putting on the road.
