Will 18 wheel and snow tires from 2006 650i work on my 2015 645i that has 19 rims

I bought wheel and snow tire set from bmw for my 2006 650i that I just sold. They are 245/45R 18 not sure what rims they are.
I just bought a 2015 645i that has 19 wheels. Would the 18 rims and tires work on it? One dealer says yes and another says absolutely not.

I would recommend a few things:
    • Get the correct BMW wheel styles and each of their specs (width/diameter/wheel offset)
    • Do the same with all of the tire sizes

Once you know what you're working with...there are lots of sites out there that can help you and give you the info (or at least the specs) that compare the two generation of BMWs set-ups.

This site will compare wheel & tire sizes and reveal the "inset" (how close to suspension) and "poke" (how far out the wheel will stick)...and also gives a little illustration that compares the two: www.willtheyfit.com

Do the same with a tire size calculator (just google for one, they are all over the internet) and compare the recommended tire sizes BMW has in the owners manual or on your door jamb or the ones presently on the car...with the tire sizes from your new BMW to make sure that they overal rolling circumference is within specs (gotta be within 3% (+/-)).

My testimonial...I recently got an f06 650ix GC and have been looking for a set of wheels (18" or 19") to mount a dedicated set of snow tire on...and replace the staggered 20" Style 356 wheels that came with the car.

I been not having luck finding any 18" or 19" wheels that I want that are close enough and fit my budget. I had a set of Style 37 MPars (from the e38 seven series) in my shed since 2012 when I sold my e39 540iT they were mounted to. I know that the wheel offset range for the e38 is lower than that of the newer f06 AWD models...but desperation made me check the numbers.

The e38's Style 38 MPars are:
    • 8"x18" w/13mm offset (front)
    • 9.5"x 18" w/25mm offset (rear)

The f06's Style 356 Wheels are:
    • 8.5"x20" w/33mm offset (front)
    • 9"x20" w/44mm offset (rear)

The first test was to see if the Style 37 MPars would fit over the brake calipers...and found out they did. Also after using the "willtheyfit.com" website...knew that the fronts would stick out approx 13mm further than the 20" style 356 wheels...and would stick out approx 25mm further in the rear.

A test mount showed that the wheels did NOT stick out past the fenders...and cleared the suspension parts as well as the brake calipers...so that left just getting snow tires that fit the wheel's width and fit the overal recommended diameter so as not to screw with the AWD and traction control systems.

    I'm going with Michelin X-Ice xi3 tires:
    • 245/45/18 (front) vs the 245/35/20 tire's on the front style 356 wheels
    • 255/45/18 (rear) vs the 275/30/20 tires on the rear style 356 wheels

The above is just an example of what you can figure out on your own by just using the specs you have on your wheels and tires you have and are considering to use.

Good luck...and again, I was kind of shocked that the e38 wheels with their low to mid range offset actually fit my f06 that had a higher wheel offset range. But if you play with the tire size and wheel widths...it may work for you.

What did you decide or find out? Any update?

As mentioned above...the 18" e38 Style 37 MPars worked out for me just fine. I call it my f06's Cinderella story...the shoes fit! They may not be pretty...but they will get the old girl through the winter's snow, sleet, freezing rain, ice, and cold...as well as the pot holes, and heaved/crumbling/cracked pavement.

1999 to 2019....20 years later...e38 MPARS are still usable. Snow tires finally came in & are mounted. Pic below shows the set of Michelin X-Ice xi3 tires & MPars mounted on an f06 GC. (car & wheels are dirty)

    MPars Wheel specs are:
    • front - 8"x18" w/13mm offset
    • rear - 9.5"x18" w/25mm offset

Michelin X-Ice xi3 tire specs are:
    • 245/45/18 (front)
    • 255/45/18 (rear)

The illustration below (from www.willtheyfit.com) shows the "poke" and "inset" comparison of the original 20" Style 356 wheels & tires vs the 18" Style 37 MPar wheels & tires.
