Anyone know a competent E31 mechanic in NM?

Hopefully in Santa Fe or Albuquerque?
Are there many E31s in NM?

Thanks and Best Wishes for the New Year to All,

Can’t really help you there, but it was always my understanding that upon purchase of an e31 you yourself become the expert e31 mechanic.

I just did a 'search' using 'Albuquerque' and there were many threads that came up with responses from a few people living in NM. Try contacting them via pm and see if you get any responses.

Thanks for the suggestion JDP530... A lot of bogus search returns for whatever reason, but a few owners with recent enough activity that they may still be in the area.

Yeah, well since I had my left arm amputated I can't wrench like I used to. Woe is me. But thanks anyway, for your really helpful comment, Pneill316.

Steve, also search the 7 series forums the same way because there are probably more 7's up there than 8's.

There are like 6 e31s in the whole state. So good point here.

Wasn’t trying to be a dick and definitely didn’t know your arm was amputated. But I guess you probably treat everyone you first meet like an asshole.

I have had two shops in Abq work on my '91 6-speed, Jim's Fine Cars (505-883-4224, tell Mickey Doug Brown sent you) who is a Porsche specialist but works on MB and BMWs and has done several E31s, and Hans Wittler's Automotive (505-294-7684) whom I had to schedule an interview with to see if he would consider working on an E31, and then took 10 hours to figure out how to replace the power steering hoses to the tune of $1,200 which may be a record for the most cost for a minor repair on an E31. I have had the dealer, Sandia BMW inspect the car, and they have been very cooperative, but I haven't had them do any actual work on the car. The owner is a BMW enthusiast, owning an M1, 2002Tii, and certainly others. Good luck.
