E83 X3 Lens replacement

I found a lens to replace the cracked one on our X3 as the entire assembly is very expensive. I would welcome any tips on removing and replacing the lens i.e. dangers, proper adhesives, other concerns. The headlight has held up for over a month with only tape covering the golf ball size hole we got when we hit a deer. There is one video on the net regarding the procedure I just thought I would overengineer the project by calling out for additional advice. I was as much ammo as I can get before I battle this little task. BTW a new zenon assy is like over $2,400 from the dealer.

Bake the housing in an oven at 250 F for 6 minutes, it should be enough to soften the adhesive and allow you to remove broken clear plastic.
