Happy Holidays All:
My 2017 F25, drivers sideview mirror is constantly dimming. Even with no rear view light source in a well lit parking lot... it dims! The slightest appearance of approaching headlights (not high-beams) will also engage the dimming.
I also have a 2014 F25 that in the very same spot, in the very same parking lot (McDonald’s, gas station, etc.) ——-> NO sideview dimming (as one would expect).
This is driving me crazy (a very short ride).
Thoughts?
Best Regards:
Sally
Is there anything that could be affecting the light sensors that cause the mirror to dim? The sensors are located on the interior rear view mirror. There is a small circular sensor on the front side of the rear view mirror (#4 in pic below) that senses the headlights of cars behind you...and there's also an ambient light sensor (#6 in pic below) on the rear side of the interior RV mirror (faces the windshield) that detects ambient light. This sensor determines how dark the mirror will darken. For instance, if you are in a well lit urban area...the mirrors won't darken as much as if you were out in the country on a non lit, no moon light road.
If you have things hanging around your mirror (like a parking pass)...it could be affecting the ambient light sensor.
