    ZF 4hp-22EH unkown part

    Hi guys

Cleaning the valve body on a 4hp-22 ZF. Wasn't changing into 4th. I'm following Badsect0r write up. I have come across this small part which is broken. Just wondering if someone could identify it or possibly a part number? It has a checkball sitting on top under the cover. Cheers.

Hi Tim, refering to your PM, I have removed the non working link, that was an endless numbers and letters, upload the pics once more on a free upload server and post the links here, not the pics. I will take some time till the post appears as you have less than 10 posts and a moderator has to approve such posts, that is the spam-o-matic of the forum software. Also post the car VIN and most important the ZF part number on the transmisssio of the 4HP22, and we will check and try to help you.
The valve body repair of Badsector is on my website

Edit, he meanwhile found the part, got this message:
No worries, thanks for that. I did eventually find the part in a parts diagram and on your page. I have ordered one.

    Valve body 4hp-22

Hi Guys, I have a 4hp-22 ZF in a 89 735iL. I believe the valve body is the E9 4 solenoid type. I ordered the valve body gasket and was told over the phone that it was a 4hp-22EH?? The car wouldn't go into 4th gear. When i pulled the pan off then the valve body, it was very dirty. The car hadnt been driven for 2 years. All other gears are/were working perfectly.

I'm in the process of cleaning the valve body and noticed the following broken part.

    https://ufile.io/qb9qi

    Which came from here

    https://ufile.io/dgzjs

From my research looking over parts diagrams, this part is not listed or shown.
    https://ufile.io/s4jdg

The only valve body i can find this part listed in is a ZF 5HP-18
    https://ufile.io/3mevx

The part i removed does seem to be broken. I'm wondering if someone has had the valve body out before and possibly put this part back in by mistake? It seems strange that it doesn't come up in the parts diagram. When i pulled the part out, the check ball was also with it. I was thinking about ordering this part and seeing if it makes a difference? Or should i leave it out all together?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Tim

I merged the 2 threads to one, so we have all in one thread, have to check and see what the other experts say.
What does the name tag on the transmission say, serial number, type and most important the ZF part number? Then we can check based on the ZF transmission part number the valve body parts.

Unfortunately, the links to ufile.io don't appear to work.

From the description, I am guessing that you mean the item in the 5HP18 discussed here?:

works, but takes a long time to open, click on slow download (free), then it takes a while, with chrome you have to download the pics to your PC, with internet explorer I could open the file online. Quite complicated with that service.
Maybe he tries another upload service and posts the links here.

Tried Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox. The server times out on all of them. With Firefox, I get the message 'The server at uploadfiles.io is taking too long to respond'. Perhaps OP means the part looks like 1043 226 028 which we have discussed before? I belatedly added a link to the discussion above

wait, till he uploads the pics again. I now also have problems with uploading. Looks like he has a broken damper valve in the valve body like here #14 and 18 for the 5HP18 https://web.archive.org/web/20131019....BMW/01-34.pdf
or here in the 4HP22 Jaguar manual http://gershon.ucoz.com/ZF/powertrain-zf.pdf
we also need the Stuecklistennummer from the ZF name tag on the trans

Tim: Once you have the serial number and the Stuecklistennumber and the type from the ZF tag on the trans, you can also contact ZF Australia https://www.zf.com/mobile/en/company...australia.html
and they will send you by email the detailed list of the complete valve body with explosion drawings and part numbers of YOUR trans based on the Stuecklistennummer.
Each item actually installed in your trans is then listed based on the Stuecklistennummer.

I contacted a ZF dealer in Aus with the part number 10432260028, who then contacted ZF, and apparently this part doesnt exist? Perhaps i should contact ZF directly myself.

    zf 1043 010 687 exists, that is a 4HP22 https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...nsmission-swap
10432260028 = 11 digits is too long, ZF part numbers are 10 digits, if you search for 1043226028, then you find something
    1043226028 ZF , VALVE, 1043226028 Checkvalve ZF5HP18, ZF5HP19 https://webshop.ganzeboom.net/zf5hp19

here we go, PLASTIC CHECK VALVE ZF Number 1043-226-028 https://web.archive.org/web/20131019....BMW/01-34.pdf

whiskychaser once measured it for me for the 5HP18: 4.56mm is as accurate as I can be. If I set my digital callipers at 4.6mm the ball slides through the jaws. The check valve isnt part of a kit so I would be tempted to get a new one from ZF, particularly as it is not the easiest thing in the world to remove.
    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...iameter-needed

    Edit: i just went thru the parts lists I have, and there is 1043 226 028 VENTIL= valve listed in poisition 220 for Stückliste: 1043 010 686 4 HP 22 EH / E32*3,5I *E9
    CD-ROM 'ELCAT' 1/2004 01.04.2004 , 4 HP 22 EH ,ZF-Stücklisten-Nr.: 1043 010 686,Kunde: BMW

    I only have the one for Stückliste: 1043 010 686 , NOT 687
