Mount it inside the rails - not for yourself, but for the track officials that will have to clean up the mess. It’s also an FD rule that all coolant and oil be within the confines of the rails and bumpers, so this won’t pass tech anyways. That dif is pure sex, btw.

What kind of diff is that? I'm so confused, never seen anything like it!
Keep it simple: half gutted '01 330i, welded diff, BC coils, SLR Super kit
There's literally no room.

It is within the confines of the tubular bumper structure, as the front bash bar wraps around it. They also let Matt Field run his entire dry sump tank outside the frame rails with just a single bar covering it IIRC.

Its a Winters quick change. Sub 5 minute gear ratio changes trackside and rated to 1500hp!
alright, I concede. I found a spot for it, I don't love it but whatever, it's inside the frame rails.
Here it is, inside the frame but going to make for messy oil changes.

Can't decide if I'm a fan of the new halo seat mandate. I know it's safer.
Status: Someone put glitter in my oil. Wait. Why's all my oil outside the engine? What's that knocking?
Yeah considering you’re not looking forward at all when drifting, it doesn’t really make sense at all to me either.
I've had one in my car for years. It is unnoticeable with drifting. The only time its an inconvenience is reversing, you can't look behind you. I got a convex clip on rear view that helps a lot though.
We are also required a HANS and arm restraints this season which I am not stoked about.
The arm restraints are just annoying to put on but not bad. I want a hans so bad. After my last on track frontal collision, I felt two pops in my neck. Fd me up for a week.

some more bits from HARD arrived

had to make a 1" narrow crows foot to tighten the lines to the pan, what a pain

SLG dual caliper brackets showed up, I am very impressed with the fitment on these.

Got the suspension put back together, still waiting on axles, it's been 9 weeks now, a bit excessive IMO...

fuel lines are done and fuel system is tested, primed, and set at 59psi.

I am having an issue I can not figure out with the oil pressure control circuit on the ARC panel, so for the time being I've bypassed it but I really want to get it figured out. I've triple checked all the wiring and the operation of the oil pressure switch, but no voltage comes out of the relay board where it should. I hope I didn't get a faulty unit from ARC but its really all I can come up with at this point.
Got the new 1000hp rated driveshaft installed along with a driveshaft loop

The engine is now ready to be test fired! Just need to fill the trans and figure out this damn fuel pump wiring issue. I've got an emsil in to ARC support and found out we have 3 weeks more to wait on axles (that'll make 13 weeks, ugh) in the meantime we might as well start mocking up the new Big Duck Club bits! BDC is also a sponsor of this car and has contributed a lot of rad stuff!

The livery design is done and ready to be printed, so as soon as we get it together it's going next door to Impacted Wraps (also a sponsor!) for a full wrap. I can't post the rendering yet but it's gonna look AWESOME.
Jealous that you don't have dual caliper bracket issues :p
That car is looking rad! I especially like all the tube work.
Have you guys worked out a spot for the outside kill switch?
instagram @andyitslit
it's on the passenger A pillar in the window opening. The rulebook states it has to be on the right side cowl by the windshield, but e36s don't really have a cowl. On my cars I mounted a flag style switch in the engine bay with a pull cable that runs up and out the hood, but Josh saw a few cars done this way at Winter Jam and all said it was allowed in pro-am, so I guess we will find out.
Test fitting the Condor poly windows they hooked us up with! They fit great, don't look to need any trimming or finessing.

MKAH center console installed, ARC mounted and arcade buttons installed for switching between racepak screens

This is moving along nicely
I haven't been taking a lot of photos lately, just trying to get work done.
Fuel cell breather done, added a breather that doubles a a quick fill point to the diff, also added the trailer tie down points.
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
Front tow hooks added as well, fuel line protected, this exhaust isn't going to work anymore.
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
Cosmis wheels mounted, need to play some spacer games to get the fitment good.
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
That's a good lookin rear end
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
MKAH hood vents added to the new hood, clear damage sanded smooth to prep for wrap

3.5 months later we have axles!

Looking good, nice hood
Saw the livery on Josh's instagram today too. Take video when you guys go testing
instagram @andyitslit
Will do! I am trying to work out a schedule with the wrap shop (Impacted Graphics) and the tuner / alignment shop (Mofab). I am planning on having the rest of my work done on it by early to mid next week, so hopefully we will be testing early May
Can you divulge wheel and tire specs?
instagram @andyitslit
Rears are 18x9.5+10 with a 15mm adapter/spacer, with a 255/35r18 tire. Will be on Valinos.
Fronts are 17x9+30 with a 20mm adapter/spacer, with a 205/40r17. I am swapping them to 235/40r17 after this post to check fitment.
Had a local muffler shop modify the exhaust to clear the driveshaft loop.
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
had to customize some bolts for the 15mm spacers since the cosmis wheels don't have reliefs
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
Swapped to a new style SLR knuckle block on the driver's side (the pass was replaced last year-ish)
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr
Sunroof delete glued in and sealed up

This happened
and then this happened
Untitled by novablue454, on Flickr.
The shop that built this trans messed something up, and it was locked out of 3-6 gears, just had 1-2 and R. It's back there getting rebuilt under warranty now. It is not easy to get the bellhousing off the trans with the engine in, have to basically pull all the bolts for the PP/Flywheel as well as the pass side header and let the whole mess fall out.

BUT while we were browsing online for curiositys sake we came across this on racingjunk, and the call was made to run it instead. I can't wait for this thing to get here, I've always wanted the chance to play with one.

We were hoping to be on the dyno in the next 2 weeks but this is going to set that back quite a bit, so we are going to try to get the rest of the body work done asap and get it over to Impacted for the wrap install asap.
Hmm.... Any info about those bolt on tie downs? They're definitely strong enough? I've been strapping the wheels with axle wraps, but I'm thinking it might be torquing my alignment out in small ways.

I’ve been using the shock mount ones on my 46 for years now without issue. They dont make the front ones for my chassis though so no real experience with them yet
well, customs severely asshole'd us on shipping the dogbox. They held it for over a week trying to decide if it was allowed.
But in the meantime, I can finally show everyone this
