2007 BMW 525XI Engine Swap. Would 2007 BMW 328 engine work in the 525xi

I need to replace the engine in my 2007 BMW 525XI. Would a 2007 BMW 328XI work? Both are 3.0 engines. I might have to change intake and oil pan which I'm not worried about. Plus I'm not very familiar with the BMW talk when people say N52 or whatever. I would ust like to know what years and models will fit the 2007 525XI

I found the answer from a BMW expert. A 2006 BMW 325 or 330 engine will work in any 2006 or 2007 BMW 525 or 530 by swapping the oil pan and intake.

Do both engines have the metal valve cover? There is a difference on early and later N52 engines. The metal valve cover is N52, the plastic valve cover is N52K. Not sure if they are interchangeable. You may have to swap the valve cover along with the intake and CCV system. That's assuming everything else is identical.
