Only way left to get the Check Engine to go off is now to pull the heads and clean the passages/chambers. Not going to happen. $3k+ repair on this auto 2003 745li is a non-starter. Mechanic came up with the idea of deleting the code in the computer. He is researching but has anyone done this? Next option will be a performance tune at around $600. Increased HP, increased MPG and the secondary air flow check is gone from the coding. I have made an appointment to have this done after New Yeas. It would be much cheaper to just delete the code. Once again, has anyone done this?
Thanks, Friz
Hey Friz,
Looks like someone found a way to simulate the correct 02 voltages and avoid tripping the code. Take a look at this thread: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24726
Also there's some good info by flashcoder here: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...wap-for-n62b48
The owner at Bavarian Auto Gruppe said it would not work. Let it go at that. Darn. So he looked further and said a software tune is now available for the E65. It would eliminate the secondary air flow check at startup, give me a couple of more HP and slightly improve gas mileage. So, for $695 I got an ESS Stage 1 Tune. Flashed the cars software onto a stick and uploaded it to the company in California. They modified it, sent it back and it was uploaded back into my car. After 100 miles the Check Engine light remains off. Added benefit: The day I took the car in when I started the car the left channel on the radio/stereo was buzzing and the SVS Voice Recognition system did not work. Thought I had lost another Logic 7 Amp. After the tune, it all works fine.
