I'm seriously considering buying a 2015 320i. It would be my first BMW and I'm excited about potentially joining this community. There's just one thing holding me back--there's no trunk access from the interior. No way for me to put skis or a hockey stick in the car.
I've done some research on opening a hole to the trunk and it seems pretty straightforward: remove plastic cover, cut through foam, pop metal piece off (it's apparently weakly spot-welded on), then cut out a hole in the trunk liner and voila, you have an opening to pass skis or other long, thin objects through.
Does anyone have experience with this or knowledge about the 320i that might be unique here? I wasn't able to find footage of this particular model so I'm concerned that when I open it up (post-purchase) it will actually be a lot more complex or not possible at all.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
With the number and variety of 320i out there, I’d suggest shopping for one that already has it. I’d also suggest shopping a 328i rather than the 320i. More power, and generally more standard features that were extra-cost items on the 320i.
