My 92 325ic auto makes a clunking/thumping noise from the rear of the car when I let off of the gas and under deceleration which can be felt through the pedals. It also happens when I am coming to a stop and the car downshifts. I had the car at a shop getting sorted out several months ago just after I bought it, and the engine and transmission mounts, driveshaft flex joint and support bearing were replaced and cv axles were replaced, and I recently replaced the differential mount bushing which I thought would solve it because it was torn, however the noise persists. The noise does not happen when I go over bumps. Any advice is appreciated.
I would be checking the U joints in the driveshaft, an you could in fact have a problem in the differential, but with an automatic I doubt it. Actually I would be checking everything in the driveline including the stuff that was already worked/replaced

does it kind of wander when you are making turns, like it kind of wants to suddenly turn quickly, even in slight direction changes? I ask in case the rear sub frame bushing need changing
No e30s again.
No, it doesn't do anything like that. I'm going to check around the driveline and see what I can find. thanks everyone
