Hello,
I want to buy a ac schnitzer exhaust for my 318is. I found one for a 320i e36. Does this exhaust fit my e36 318is. The exhaust has only one pipe.
Thanks,
Siem
Your message has been moved to this sub-forum, hopefully you will get some input here. Enjoy that 318is!

Have you asked Schnitzer? To keep the car roadworthy in Germany, they would have to list your model (EU type number, engine, body style, etc.) in the exhaust system's registration paperwork. Then you would either need to carry that with the car's registration, or get the modification inspected and added to the car's registration.
How are such technical modifications handled in the Netherlands?
As happens, I am adding a Fox post-cat sport exhaust to my 318is and hope to have the car back on the road this week or next.

Not sure, but quite certain the first part (where it connects to the exhaust manifold) is different, because of 4/6 cylinder difference. both the 318is and 320i engine are located right at the firewall, to optimize weight ratio, so I think the exhaust manifold tube locations will not be the same. I think the rear parts will all match up just fine. So, you'll probably have to improvise a bit at the front (welding, can get expensive if you don't have a buddy who can do this)..
In the Netherlands (where I was born and lived for 30 years) you can just install another exhaust. As longs as it doesn't produce too many dB and it's airtight and the catalytic convertor works fine, there is no problem at all. Germany is a lot stricter.
P.S. Really loved the Remus rear muffler on my E34 525i M50.. Created a really nice, deep sound. My 323i (shares exhaust with 320i), even with the double pipe 328i exhaust sounds way too civilized :-) ..
