I just checked to see if I could get a door striker for my roadster to solve a alarm falsing issue and dome lite problem. I checked FCP and ECS... no go. I called the dealer.. none in US or Germany. I hope they make some more but the dealer wasn't sure they would be. Looks like it's time for a DIY repair

Thanks Nathan I was starting to get worried. Found them on getbmwparts too.
Well it's strike three. I just got a email from the eBay seller canceling the order due to no stock and no known date of availability. The search continues.
I do have a spare pair (used) that I grabbed for a rainy day and would be willing to part with one of them. I could dig it out after the Xmas holiday. You can have the passenger's side that I'd imagine has quite a bit less use on it. Shoot me a text. I'll do Black Friday pricing.

This will be the next part to horde since they often fail especially the driver side. Good thing they're universal

If someone had a way to add a little plastic or something even more resistant to wear to the little nub that gets pushed in to make the lights go out, we could continue to use what we already have. I've put some clear tubing on the bar to replace the rubber that wore out, but the tape on the little nub just doesn't stay on long enough, especially in the hot weather when the adhesive gets soft.
I bought a replacement at least a year ago so I have a part to make the driver's door work but would hope to be able to fix the worn one if possible.

For what its worth, I was told they are not NLA just back ordered with a supply chain issue, BMW has 650 on back order with the manufacture so atleast from I was told, They will be getting more in just a matter of when. That being said. It is getting more common for parts going NLA for these cars which I am a bit surprised on some items like the reflectors for the rear of the roadster.
I grabbed a E36 sedan one and they are exactly the same other then, The E36 has a longer wire without the grommet, However the plug is the same and the grommet can easily be moved over, If you are in a pinch and want a brand new one
On my E36 325i driver door latch light switch nub I cleaned it well with alcohol and laid a small bead of hot glue on it. I had my doubts that it would last, at all. 2000 miles later and it's still on there and working flawless. Honestly was surprised and decided that I'll just fix it as needed with hot glue.
My local dealer said 600+ are due in soon.
Just checked again and still on back order. My dealer searched and still over 600 pending availability. Now you better take a seat cause the “list” price for one when available is $206. I about fainted. I went home got out my torx sockets and successfully adjusted the striker so no gouging at this time.
The only way I got a hold of a door striker was to buy used from eBay seller. (Look for oem bmw parts dismantler).
