Hi, thanks for joining the fun. I have a 98 740iL and am completely stuck. I have an issue with the electrical system. I have tried 2 different batteries and 2 different alternators. None of the combinations have solved the issue that the alternator does not charge the battery. The only next logical step that I can think of would be to trace from alternator to battery. Anyone know if any fuses could be a problem?
Check TIS link: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ontrol/buh9GbM
There are no fuses between the alternator and battery. There is Fuse 22 which is the voltage reference lead. If that fuse is out the regulator
will not activate. The reference voltage then goes to the DME, turning off the 'battery' light once charging.
Awesome, will go check thank you.
Check the fuse with the multi-meter for continuity, don't rely on a visual check alone (sometimes they look ok but they are not).

Will do, on way out to work some more, thanks.
