E39 easy question Help !!

Anyone who has a e39 540i , put your key in 1 or 2nd position and open the door does your car ping ping ping when the doors open and say key in ignition ? . My car does not go ping ping ping when I have door open or say key in ignition , is my ews not picking up my key ?

Does the bong work for lights on?

Does the cluster read correctly?

Did this just start happening?

Happen after I didn’t timing chain guide install , 2 months with battery out , but battery is fully charged and no crank no start on my car , tryna figure out if it is my ews no picking up my key

You can turn the “ping” for Key in ignition on and off in Car/Key Memory settings.
However, now that you’ve said what has actually happened, it’s more likely your EWS or Key.
Have you tried another key?
Have you check the status of the EWS and Key with diagnostics?

Bad dead battery. Replace it with a new good fully charged battery.....and check all your electric connections. Make sure they are clean and tight.
