This 1991 BMW 850i is finished in Calypso Red over Parchment leather and powered by a 5.0-liter V12 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car is reportedly one of 528 examples equipped with a manual transmission of the 2,647 built during the first year of US production. This example has spent much of its life in California and Nevada, where it was acquired out of long term storage by its current owner three years ago. Approximately 3,000 of its 95k indicated miles have been added since, and mechanical work has included fitment of a new water pump, thermostat, control arms, and more. A repaint was performed in 2016, and the interior was refreshed with a new headliner and re-dyed seats.
This E31 is offered on behalf of its current owner with service records from the last three years, a clean Carfax report, and a clear California title. The exterior was repainted in its original shade of Calypso Red by DTM Auto Body of El Monte, California, with the resulting finish shown up close and from a number of angles below. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage. 16” Style 8 wheels with BMW center caps and wear older Barum Bravuris rubber on three corners along with a Falken Ziex tire at the right rear. The brake accumulator and front control arms were replaced under current ownership. A staggered set of Mk1 17″ wheels with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires are included in the sale. Parchment leather seats have been re-dyed and treated with Leatherique, and a set of Lloyds mats protects the matching carpets. Small blemishes on the driver and passenger seats are pointed out by the seller in the gallery. The 5.0L V12 is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and was factory-rated at 296 horsepower at 5,200 rpm with 332 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. The engine bay has been detailed, and the following components were replaced by the current owner: Water pump Thermostat Coolant expansion tank Auxiliary water pump Fuel pumps Fuel level sending unit Fuel filters and hoses Oxygen sensors Spark plugs Serpentine belts Engine, transmission, and differential fluids Hydraulic system filters and sensors Air ducts Two batteries
