Heating working on the driver side but not on the front passenger side

Hello,
In a E34 525 TDS from 1995, the air blowing from the dashboard is hot on the driver side, but remains cold on the front passenger side.
I scanned through the DIY links list in the parked thread, but did not see that issue listed.
What could be the cause for this issue, is it easy to fix?

Please clarify:
only dashboard is the problem? Or all points driver side hot/warm air comes and on the passenger side only cold air on all points?
On case only the dash passenger side is the problem, then it could be a broken regulating flap arm, see here http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/showt...passenger-side

I would say it was the second one, all points. That's a car I test drove for about 15 minutes.
Other than this problem, the car really seemed to be kept in good condition so I think I'm going to buy it. Just wondering about the cost of the repair or whether I can DIY it.

Almost certainly a stuck heater valve. The work is easy enough but your choices for the part are: 1. ~$50 repair kits that seem to be a bit tricky to install, 2. ~$40+ aftermarket heater valves of questionable quality, or 3. OE heater valve for the princely sum of $500+.

Other possibilities are: 1. heater valve wiring or control module, 2. clogged heatercore (never seen one clogged only on one side, but I suppose it's possible).

Thanks a lot for this detailed information. I think I'm going to use that to lower the price but still purchase the car. It is in a very good exterior shape

There are heater valves out there now for $60.
