Slots for options buttons in Double Din Frame

    Hi Everyone,

So my odyssey continues. I purchased a navigation kit for my 1998 740il from Avin and part of that was a new metal frame/ bezel for the radio and dash controls. In the original frame there were slots to hold the ASP and read sunshade buttons. However, in the new frame there are none and therefore the buttons cannot hold into place. I had assumed I would need to use the button units as seen in post update models, however the wiring is different, with each button now using a 8 pin layout as opposed to the original 6.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

They need to get you a metal frame for the prefacelift cars. The OEM frames are different between 98 and 99. Unless you want to do a bunch of wiring for the facelift button pod.

So the issue was I ordered the frame from Avin to allow for the installation of my navigation unit I also bought from them. I was under the assumption that there was a single style of frame since they only sell one style and knew the model year of my car. Its strange for them to assume that everyone would have an encyclopedic knowledge of a cars parts and model year changes for them. People don't even have that level o focus for their jobs.

Will the Avin fit in an OEM frame? You could locate an OEM frame with the button holes and return the one to Avin.
