While my rack is being rebuilt I thought it was a good time to rebuild my power steering pump with a seal kit from FCP Euro. Everything went smooth aside from the power steering drain plug. As I backed it out it took all the threads on the plug with it, not the threads from the pump thankfully. Upon inspection the plug has a recess in the middle where it looks like a factory sealant is used. It's a regular M14X1.25 plug but I'm concerned with putting a normal drain plug back in its' place. For the life of me I can not find another. Real OEM didn't have a breakdown of the pump itself. Anyone ever run into this?

I did not think that plug was removable or was not intended to be removed. You could contact ZF directly, however their pump is NLA.
A machine shop should be able to create a plug.
Have you tried MacMaster-Carr?

Perhaps it was not meant to, I saw a breakdown video where it had been removed. I think I will attempt to contact ZF, they have a spare parts request you can fill out so certainly worth a shot, as far as McMaster I could not find quite what I was hoping for. Thank you for the reply either way I did not think to contact directly.

Can you post a pic of the bolt?

I am kicking myself for not taking a picture. I'll have to head up to my shop and grab one. Fortunately I have another car to use for the time being

Just saw a video with the bolt. I think you can use a regular bolt, just use a new crush washer and use a bolt that is not longer than the original. Don't over torque.
