    New E38 owner!

Hey errbody! New E38 owner as of tonight! Just picked up a 1998 740i for $750. 252K miles, runs and shifts great, no leaks or rust, 18" split 5 spokes, black on black, needs a few sensors, valve cover gaskets, the radio re-installed, and probably a few front suspension bushings. I'm sure it'll nickel and dime me beyond that but it drives great and I've always loved these cars. And its got an aftermarket exhaust that sounds great! I just drove it 30 miles home tonight and it was powerful and solid the entire time. I've owned two BMWs in the past and I'm familiar with working on these cars, and I'm looking forward to getting this back into top shape and enjoying it! As long as everything stays strong the only mods I plan on doing are maybe the VW monsoon speakers and maybe a few tiny cosmetic things like the small M5 style rear spoiler. Mostly just looking to enjoy it!

Also, it's a lot more fun to drive than my wife's 2011 Civic dx

Sounds interesting and a good save. $750 will translate soon. Original guides or when were they done?
Need some pics and stories/updates on the restoration and upgrades.

Probably original guides. Previous owner bought it sight unseen so he had no clue. He replaced some hoses and a few other things. It'll need some love, but at that price I couldn't pass it up. I think it finally stopped raining so I'll grab some photos today

Wet and grey but looks like a good solid specimen!

The great thing about it needing a few sensors and whatnot is that I can slip some "while I'm in there" upgrades in. I have a non-vanos engine so I guess vanos injectors will be a must!

Let us know with what flavor injectors you go with. I'm in the market for some myself.

At that price and general condition, you can just drive it until something major breaks and then part it out an make all of your money back.

That's actually a pretty decent idea. Hopefully I get some good time before anything breaks, as I love this gorgeous car.

Sell the Civic dx for a BMW parts/mods fund.

The rims alone are worth what you paid for it.

The most expensive car I've bought is the cheapest car I bought.....
