All -
I had a 1986 325es back in the day. It had a circular badge with the outline of Italy on it and the Italian flag colors; it was on the grille between the kidneys and the driver's side headlights. I'm wondering what the significance of that badge was.
Does anyone know? Searches have not turned up much information.

I found an Ireland one in a junkyard and put it on my dad's 325i as a joke once. Took him like three days to notice.
ISTR that nationality badges were a thing back in the day. Something like the oval Euro bumper stickers you see around now. If you're really curious, see if you can find any manufacturer info on the part.
