Finally got to sit down with all lock cylinders from my e36 to make them all work with ignition key - the only cylinder/key correct to the car. I was able to figure out order of wafers for door locks, but glove box lock got me stumped: I was able to make it work with the same key as well (6 wafers in that one vs 12 in the door one), but last wafer on every side is different? Based on the number of wafers in the door cylinder and glove box cylinder, I'd expect every other wafer from the door cylinder to be in the glove box cylinder, but for some reason they are different? The last water away from the key head varies between door cylinder and glove box cylinder. Is that normal? Same key works for both somehow?
Also, what is the proper lubricant that goes into lock cylinder cavity on the door handle assembly?
Thanks.
Thanks.
No, I do not have the smaller key.
Perhaps you can buy one

Food for thought, 45 years ago, I needed to repair the driver's door lock on a '69 Datsun/Nissan 510. Since I was young and poor, I realized I could just remove the pins from the lock, and use my old key to 'lock' the door. Of course, pretty much any key would 'lock' the door, even a screwdriver. For me, this was a great feature!
