Newbie here. I have been reading and reading and reading before I posted on here so I don’t feel too stupid. I have a 2006 x5 3.0. About a month ago I was driving and all 3 lights came on. Abs,4x4,Dsc after shutting down the car and starting it again everything was fine for about 5 minutes. I checked all wheel sensors and everything looked good. I used a scanner to see what was going on and when I tried to look into the fault codes, one said internal failure. And steering wheel angle sensor. So I purchased a used one off of eBay with the same numbers and installed it and instantly all lights where on when I started the car and then the tire pressure sensor light on the dash lights up and I can’t seem to reset it with the button in the car. So I called the dealer and they said 150.00 to reprogram the module to the car.
after picking up the car from the dealer as soon as I put it in drive and start to move the lights come back on. The dealer says they scanned the car and the transfer case is bad and it’s 5000.00 installed. So I am now going to pick the car up from the dealer. Any ideas? I see there is a transfer case actuator that has a gear that goes bad but I don’t hear any noises when I turn the car off. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post, Thanks in advance.
Update: It was the transfer case solenoid, unfortunately not the gear but the whole unit. Thank god I was able to get one fast and put it in. Car runs great again. EST time 1 hour. Start to finish..
