I recently pulled my engine wiring harness module for some refreshing as I was also pulling the intake manifold for a pass of cleaning, CCV, OFHG, Vacuum hoses, coolant system etc etc from the "I just bought a craigslist E46 task list"
I am experienced with both cars and custom circuitry but this is my first BMW after a bunch of other Japanese track cars.
I redressed all the runs with new wire loom / heat shield wrap, zip ties for strain relief, cleaned up the box etc and despite hearing many claims of "all these connectors are keyed and can only go one place." obviously a few of them are the same head design and/or number of pins.
I had the fun experience of accidentally plugging the oil pan sensor into the other three pin plug under the starter and disassembling the intake manifold from the head a second time to correct that issue without damaging anything from poor access.
I also noticed a few other two pin connector with a similar plastic key shape and my inexperience left me searching for a diagram of the MS43.0 M54 engine harness plug layout but I have yet to find one that is well labeled and related to the shape and plug type of the module as opposed to just a straight electrical diagram with wire colors and schematic.
Came across a hand drawn one on google images but have yet to find a thread here or elsewhere with the plug type, layout and destination as they are connected to the engine module.
Anyone point me to a good thread I am missing or a diagram with good labeling and ideally plug type names?
Car is running now and I think I have them correct but I would love a definitive source to double check my work.
Thanks!
