1997 MBW Z3 6-cyl 2.8L *FOR SALE* $2000 OBO

This is my son's car, and this description will likely be incomplete. Please write for more information, and we will provide contact #s.


Bottom line: Good body, new paint professionally done, extras like roll bar, was his pride-and-joy daily driver for several years.


Engine quit on him at some point, and he was too busy to have it looked at, got another car, and it's been sitting neglected for a couple years.


The interior has gotten some mold and will need attention, even though he kept it immaculate when he was driving it. (It's hard to keep things dry on Cape Cod. It has been stored outside under twin covers.) Apparently the rear window insert has split (I believe we had replaced this once.)


We did a head gasket job together when he first bought it. I will try to share the Facebook photo album from that project below, as well as a few photos his mom took recently. (Sorry she didn't get any of the interior. If you are seriously interested, we will pull the covers off and take more pics, or even set up a FaceTime call.)


We will try to provide complete information as possible to any serious prospective buyer.

I have one just like it...fun car! Any idea what is wrong with the engine?

I don't. Just haven't had time to diagnose at all. Busy time. Worst case, maybe popped gasket again. They seem prone to it. PITA to do all that work again, but at least the deck inserts are already there and properly done. Best case, maybe just a fuel or electronics issue. I know it would be much more valuable with the engine running, but... time!
