Selling my 2001 525i Touring after nearly 10 years. Its been a good car, but I now have 4 cars and don't have the space to store or the time to maintain all of them. I bought it 2009 with 87k miles and have put on nearly 140k since then - 100k in the first 4 years we owned it and much fewer since then. I used it to commute 125 miles a day for four years, so alot of the mileage was done on I-94. Car spent most of its life in Wisconsin and Illinois but has been in Phoenix for the last 3 years. On to the details...

Oxford Green Metallic with Sand Beige Leather
Cold Weather Package with Heated Seats and Steering Wheel
Rear Sunshades
Factory Xenons (OE)
Style 5s
The good:
- Engine runs great - CEL not on and no stored codes. It will pass emissions.
- Transmission shifts smoothly - no issues ever
- No suspension issues - Front end overhaul was done and the car has Bilstein HD shocks and Meyle HD/Lemfoerder control arms and bushings. Rear subframe bushings replaced as well
- No accidents
- A/C blows cold
- No electronics issues
- New rear tires
- No oil leaks
- Interior in decent shape. Leather worn but no holes or tears.
- Most recent maintenance: PCV valve and associated hoses, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, power steering hoses and reservoir, cooling fan clutch
The Bad:
- Rear hatch needs some work. There's a spot just below the rear glass that has rusted through from road salt and needs to be repaired.
- Rear hatch shocks are broken (I have new ones on hand)
- Some smaller surface rust spots and bumps near seams and on driver's door sill (no holes)
- ABS controller failed (ABS/DSC lights on, speedometer/odometer works fine)
- Front tires should probably be replaced
- Small cooling system leak. I believe it's from one of the auxiliary water pump hoses at the bottom of the radiator shroud. Not driven since I noticed it. Cooling system overhaul was done around 60k miles ago and everything else was replaced.
Obviously the car is not perfect and there's some work to be done, but the major stuff is good. I just don't have the time to do the work anymore. I'd love to see it go to someone who can give it a little TLC and keep another E39 Touring on the road. Not many left. Pictures available on request.
