Should I sell my E36 and build a 240sx drift car?

Hey guys, i am debating whether i should keep my E36 and turn it in to a drift car or just sell it and buy a 240sx drift car. which is more reliable s52 or sr20det? the sr20det engines sound so damn good like this drift car in the video.

Assuming similar power levels, they'll have very different driving experiences. The na s52 with have a much faster response than a turbo anything, but the SR20 when built correctly, would put out more power. Truthfully, if you've got an e36 with an s52, I believe it'll be a much more reliable setup than an sr20. SR20 people get greedy and always blow them up. The s52 will ride limiter all day, and as long as you occasionally change the oil, it'll live forever.

Not to mention, your e36 is something you know, better than a project, swapped 240sx at least. If you want the project, learn to drift with you s52, and then turbo it. Been done tons of times before, but it's way cooler than another sr20 240sx every single time.

Keep it simple: half gutted '01 330i, welded diff, BC coils, SLR Super kit

bad idea. SRs suck IMO, the e36 has almost as large of an aftermarket, you can still find unmolested cars with decent prices (no drift tax), etc.

If you don’t mind way overpaying for everything due to drift tax and like to have the exact same car as everyone else, go for it.

not for nothing, but most people on here may be more bias towards e36's lol. I've never driven a 240, I would be lying if I said I didn't want one, but multiple people have driven my e36 and commented on how well setup and good it feels with a relatively basic setup. As others said, drift tax on the chassis/parts is going to be way more than an e36

that doesn't sound good at all IMO, if you want something for the sound put a JZ in your E36. I'm a pretty die hard LSx guy, but nothing comes close to the sounds of a JZ.

People in japan drift 240’s because they’re a dime a dozen. They’re just cheap, disposable and readily available. People in America drift them because they’re fanboys - they watched F&F or a bunch of youtube vids and thought “ZOMG I wanna be drifterz yo” so we’ll gladly sell you a 30 y/o 4-banger for $6k because you’re an idiot. If you’re just doing this for the facebook likes, definitely get the 240 and save the BMW’s for us real drifters.
