What did you use to read the code?
Try swapping bank 1 and 2 cam sensors just to make sure the sensor is bad.
I used inpa to scan. I also scanned with torque app on my phone and get a p0020 cam position actuator circuit.
I have swapped cam sensors and changed the vanos solenoid on bank 2 with no change.
Not sure if you have this same problem......read this post.

I had read that thread before, and thought maybe it was the problem. But, didn't wanna go through the work of pulling the valve cover. Well, thanks to you posting it again, I pulled the valve cover and I noticed a little scratch on one of the tabs, it didn't hardly look bent, but I bent it back as straight as I could and the problem is solved. This has been an issue since I bought the car. I hope it means that someone has messed with the timing and the guides have been done. Thanks for your help jimlev.
