I am having some unique issues with deleting EWS2 on my build date 11/95 530it. I did the b40 intake manifold swap stuff, no issues. I grabbed a tune for the increased air flow for a 404 ecu and I did what I found online involving swapping the ecus, using a 404 ecu, cut the wire to pin 66 on engine harness and I unplugged the EWS yellow plug and jumped pins 1 and 3 together. The car started up fine but the check engine light came on. Used a Peak engine code reader and it acknowledged a code but when we looked to see what code, it gave none. I drove it around, it ran fine. But once I drove it on the freeway, a trans program error came up. I put it all back to stock, left battery off to let it reset, CEL is gone and trans program. I'm guessing this issue is fairly unique due to tit being such a late build in 95 but, any ideas anyone? I haven't found anything online. Thanks
Anyone?
If it runs EWS is not a factor.
I suspect your "check" light and trans program were a result of the "tune you grabbed" and subsequently ditched.
Seems all is well now so what is the issue?
While wanting more from you b30 is understandable it's not likely to be a rewarding endeavor. No matter what you do it remains a tiny little wheezer of a V-8 burdened with a heavy car and a power sucking automatic.
If really want more power get the rest of the b40 that intake came from.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
What Ross said. Also measure voltage while the car is running and not running. Could also have power issues.

I had a vacuum leak and ended up just putting all this stuff on since I had it and I had to take all the intake stuff on anyway. I do plan on b40 swapping once I get my manual stuff on as well. Thanks for the replies.
I had a phantom code like that when I used a cheap eBay chip in my car
