So I replaced the sunroof headliner material since it was coming off and a mess. I wish would have read the directions about how you could do this without actually taking out the sunroof glass, but I didnt. Anyway everything went back in and works, but now I am getting pretty bad wind noise. It looks aligned right, but maybe its supposed to be lower or higher. Should the panel be slightly recessed a tiny bit in the front? Mine looks dead flush even but still getting the noise.
Do you have any gap between glass panel and roof, especially towards the front of the car? I had a similar issue with wind noise after headliner redo. My glass panel would not close all the way against old gasket no matter how many time I tried to reposition it -- there was 1mm gap. New sunroof gasket fixed the issue.

Its possible, I will have to check that.
Here is the thread I started when I had a similar issue: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...1mm-gasket-gap

Here's how to adjust it to get rid of wind-noise - the adjustment is different to the steel sunroof:

I've tried 6 ways to Sunday and I still get wind noise. The E38 has a fatal flaw of noise with that moonroof glass. Even when the car was new it had the noise, and the dealer said that's the best it's gonna get.

I think that's why they improved the sunroof gasket and made it "thicker" so it seals better. New gasket solved my problem.

I put a new one on my car years ago. Improved, but there is still noise there.
