I’m having a really hard time finding a radiator for my 1995 840Ci unless it’s a $500 OEM from the dealership part. I asked this question on another post and someone gave me RM Europeans site with a number but I got that radiator and it doesn’t fit. They’re saying that part is only to an 850 but I see posts all the time about people putting CSI radiators in there cars.
Looks like all E31 840 models and late model 850ci M73 use the same radiator according to realoem.com. And, according to FCPeuro its used on some 5 and 7 series. FCP has both the Behrs and Nissens for under $200. But, the M70 model has a trans cooler built in.
Rockauto has an aftermarket brand i have never heard of for $100.00. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...,radiator,2172

They don’t though. I thought the same thing but there are 2 part numbers between all the 8 series. There is 17112242138 and then 17111702762. Both are listed as being the same size however, I ordered the first part number from RM European.
They are claiming it only fits V12 cars but the BMW ETK says it fits both. Plus my fan shroud didn’t it fit on it correctly. But of course the other part number can’t be bought anywhere so I have no way of knowing. I ended up ordering the same radiator again from them which will arrive in a couple days but it’s the German Behr, not the Chinese one I got the first time. They tried to tell me it’s the same thing but even the color of the metal is different.
The other odd thing is that even though 2 part numbers are listed for the 8s all of the fan shrouds are the same so I don’t know why mine wouldn’t fit.
I don’t know. The BMW ETK says both fit the M60 840. And the dimensions are the same between all part numbers. My issue was the top metal part that holds the core, is twice as wide as the failed one causing the shroud not to fit.
But like I said that was a Behr Service china made part I got from them the first time and the new new one I ordered is the same part number but it’s a German made Behr. Hopefully that’s the issue.
If not I mean I don’t know what to do but go for the $500 BMW one because that’s the only way I can get the other 762 part number to try.
Even that Nissens one on FCP is the part number that RM European is claiming doesn’t fit but it says right there it fits my my car.

I remember about 10yrs ago on my 91 850i I replaced the radiator with a used 5 series one just fine. I don’t remember if it match up identical to the old and I was never modest about making things fit with a couple extra drill holes. So if your a perfectionist you can probably block out that reference.
I’m all for making things fit within reason this was just not one of those situations as the fan shroud didn’t fit even kind of.
Maybe check out Zionsville radiator in Indiana. They make all metal radiators.
Yeah someone suggested that before I’m not spending $800 on a radiator.
I had mine replace a few years back. I will be swinging by the shop today I'll see if I can dig up the record and get the source info for ya.
Oh wait ...you have a '40 ... nevermind!
I’ve figured it out
