    135i/335i Cooling for Endurance Racing

I was planning to build a 2011 135i with the single turbo N55 into a road race car. I've been reading so many horror stories about cooling this engine that I'm not sure I'm going to do it. It also sounds like the DCT is going to need an additional cooler. There's only so much room in the front end for coolers.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Chumpcar and WRL both run races that are 8 hours long or longer so it will be run very hard all day long and reliablility is the key to having fun.

I don't want to stick $20k into modifying this car just to have it go into limp mode or stop shifting. And real world experience would be very helpful.

    Thanks,
    Brad from MN

    A few BMW's...
    Hey Brad,

I have a 2011 135i dct we are prepping for track use at my shop.

There are a few things to do to make the cars run on track.
One is do not waste money on the CSF oil cooler or dxt cooler..

Our project gets postes on Facebook rarely on forums.

If you need more information shoot me an email. gary@simod.net

We will have our project car out this spring to flog on.

Might want to pop over to e90post- there's much more information of people tracking their n54/ n55's there.
Keep it simple: half gutted '01 330i, welded diff, BC coils, SLR Super kit

I would stick with a more appropriate base for endurance racing. Just get an e36 e46 or e90 and go racing.

I see no advantage of trying to beat the heat endured by the n55 ESPECIALLY in an endurance racing environment. Boost leaks, coil packs, spark plugs, etc etc are all going to be more prone to killing a very expensive race weekend.
