Hi All,
A popular topic I know ...
I replaced the battery in one of my keys and then reprogrammed it as I have done several times before, successfully.
This time the key unlocks the car ONLY. Unlocks door, boot release works but will not lock nor will it start the car.
I have gone through the reprogramming several times and changed the order of the keys, no change.
Key will only unlock the car.
Thoughts?
There are two parts to the key the remote buttons that lock and unlock the car then there is the chip in the key that communicates to the car and allow it to start, the ews system so replacing the battery should not have any impact on the ews part of the key unless the key started the car before the battery replacement then you could have damage it when replacing the battery
Fair enough. So why would the buttons unlock but not lock?
I’d check the alignment of the buttons. Do the lock and the unlock buttons have the same “feel.”
Well I recently took part my keys apart, the battery tested good, so I did not change it. Then I programmed the circuit board to the car and it worked, so then I put the circuit board in the key half with the buttons, pressing it in tight and the buttons worked. Be fore gluing back together I shimmed up the board so when the key is together it is frmily in place. When gluing it I sanded the seams flat, used plastic epoxy and when gluing the key impositions it at the edge of the work bench and used a clamp and a socket over the button are for clamping down. I have repaired two keys like this and they both work fine I have another key apart to fix.
Re: the button feel ... I was initially testing with the circuit board on its own ... directly on the buttons ... no lock.
Only unlock and boot.
Then with the key all together, no start.
