    Joey's 540i6 Build Thread

    So I introduced myself in another forum thread, here

    I have a 2011 BMW X5 4.4 twin turbo v8 I daily, so this gets very little mileage. In the almost 2 months I have had it, she has gone maybe 300 miles.

    • 17" ASA AR1 Wheels
    • UUC short throw shifter
    • Mishimoto M3 Radiator
    • Supersprint resonator, followed by stainless straight pipes
    • H&R lowering springs
    • Bilstein sport struts
    • Racing Dynamics swaybars

    I ordered a new blower motor and resistor since it went full inop the other day and since then I have not driven the car (it has been a little cold)

    Come to find out there is different styles of e34 blower motors, the one I ordered was the bolted hold down style, not the metal clamp style I actually have.

    you can see the end is also blown out. I have started the return process and am ordering the correct blower motor to get the car back on the road.

    When doing the repair I found the throttle cables all hodge podged together, and a bunch of things missing around the HVAC cover and all over pretty much. As I repair I will go and and reinstall missing bolts, once I get a stash of some. I think I should part a car out, but maybe I will be lucky and someone well sell those collard 10mm headed plastic bolt things.

    I will have to take pictures when I get home, but maybe you will know when I describe them. I need, if you have them, the collared style nuts that hold the coolant reservoir on a V8 car with a 10mm maybe 4 - 8 of those , and the 7mm coarse threaded bolts that secure the cover over the firewall that goes into the HVAC box I need 3 of those. I will take pictures today if I have time, if you don't know what I am talking about.

    Interesting, I've never seen one of the bolt in types. My blower motor is exactly the same as your one right down to the part number except mine is by Bosch. What brand did you get for your replacement motor? Not the bolt in one but the re-ordered motor that will be correct.

    I watched a you tube video where a guy took out a blower motor from a 5 series, and it had the bolt in style, like the replacement one I have in front of me

    the part I ordered that is the bolt in style blower motor is "HELLA 351000341 Behr Service "

    what I believe I need is "ÜRO PARTS 64111468542" witch has the part number on the blower motor in the car of "64118390935". That's the number on the tag of the HVAC blower in the car.

    That should probably work, some of the motors are interchangeable and URO is a good aftermarket blower.

    the other selection listed' with automatic heater control' so I assume there is three different styles of blowers on E34's. Live and learn I guess.

    I think this car will not be to bad to work on though, which is good coming out of my last 'sports' car being a 90 300zx witch was about the worst vehicle I have ever, and most likely, will ever work on, and I have a good amount of platforms I have wrenched on over the years.

    Update. New 30 amp fuse, blower motor, and blower resistor (module)

    I have a set of rear window regulators for the car, and a line on some body parts.

    How does that exhaust setup sound? Does it still have the stock cats in it?

    yes, at first I didn't like it, but it has grown on me. It does not sound bad. I guess I should get a sound clip. It may be financially beneficial for me to sell the exhaust on the car and do something different.

    Nice. The reason I ask is I've been toying with the idea of doing a supersprint exhaust on one of my e32 740's. Maybe just the Supersprint resonator and no rear muffler. I removed the rear muffler on one of my 740's because it was falling out from rust (the stock cats and resonator are still installed). It actually sounds pretty good and it's not raspy, just louder.

    Well maybe we will cross paths at some point and you can hear this thing. Looks like your town is about 2.5 hours from me. I guess I could/should do a sound clip on it also.

    I actually live down in Florida now, so I'm not up in the Philadelphia area often anymore. I need to update my profile haha. Yeah, definitely post a link if you ever take a sound clip of it. I'd be curious as to how it sounds.

    I've heard installing a "Y" pipe after the stock cats to a 3" pipe back to a Magnaflow (deleting the resonator) sounds great

    So I have 1200 miles on the car since October, and man I’m glad I bought this thing, even needing all the work it did and does. I’m doing it right, because I’m averaging an amazing 14mpg. I also like how much my 16 month old enjoys the feels of the car when I do silly things like blip the throttle in first, or zip around a turn. I have always and always will regard e34’s as my favorite BMW

    I recently found out (thanks Rennwelt of Frederick MD) that my car is supposed to have sport seats in it

    Most HE53s came with sports seats from factory, but not all.
