I have a 2002 Z3 3.0, my blinkers/turn signals work fine when I have my head lights turned off. But when I turn my headlights and dash lights on and use my turn signals they blink much faster than normal. But only when lights are on. Any Ideas?
I had a similar issue with my Chevy van a few years ago. First the right blinker started blinking fast, left blinker was OK. Then the left blinker started blinking fast so now both were fast. Typically a light bulb issue but not in this case as all lamps were good. Turned out to be the flasher unit.
I had the same exact issue on my 2001 m roadster and a winded thread with bunch of smart ass remarks got to love the members of this board and their sense of humor. Anyways, it ended up being loose connection in the headlight. Just reconnect all one at a time, starting in the front and move to the back while keeping blinkers on and see which one is loose. I literally just wiggled the cable and it improved. There is none conducting grease you can pick up at your local hardware or auto store to seal and improve connectivity.

I seem to recall a car I had once that if a fuse was blown or a bulb was out the turn signal on the dash would flash rapidly. It may have been my 1973 2002.
Mine does the same thing.... my fix,I stopped driving at night.
Any ground connections to the body or other metal components could also be suspect, especially if there’s any obvious corrosion.
But seriously, I had same exact issue and posted about it. I got enough magic smoke responses, so let me spare you from those. Go around the car and reconnect all you bulb connectors starting from the front, testing blinkers with lights on each time to confirm if it’s fixed.
Sounds like a good place to start.
