Hi all,
I have only just recently purchased a used 2008 E81 (I live in Italy) and would like to investigate all possibile issues. I have also the Carly software using the classic OBDII port which is showing me a few faults on the O2 sensors I believe (old faults) and I have an "unlogged" intermittent battery warning problem which just goes away shortly after I turn the car on (I changed the battery and set it using Carly but it sometimes still warns me). Long story short I decided to use INPA to read out detailed diagnostics info. Now my question is, having read and studied a little how INPA works, based on the SP-DATEN databases (I have v53 installed and v60 downloaded for E89), there are a myriad of "Control Unit" models after specifying my E81 model. Is there some way to read what Control Units I have on my car using INPA beforehand (similar to the "Information" readout) so to know exactly what units are installed or is there some table which can tell me this? Else if I would like to code some of these units again it would be a nightmare by trial and error. Sorry if this is obvious but I haven't come around to seeing how one can exactly know what units are on his car (I haven't tried reading data out yet but I have an old laptop with XP on it and a K+DCAN interface so I will be attempting to shortly). Thanks in advance!
Luke
Run the "E89" functional jobs, UIF or identification button.

Thanks for the quick response! Today I tried to run exactly those jobs (I tried E89 or E87/81 identification jobs) but I always get error ifh-0003 data transmission disturbed error. I have a K+DCAN transparent Chinese ODB interface with FTDI USB2serial chip that I bought on ebay several months ago and never used. I tried with 2 different drivers and apparently they are working as I see the LED flashing green/red when pressing the relevant functions but I always get that error. I understood that being a 09/2008 model I do NOT have to have pins 7 and 8 (K lines) bridged and the interface does not. Latency in the serial com port is set to 1 and com port is 1 and is set so in ediabas.ini (and the server is 192.168.68.1). Any heads up on what I can try to get this working?
Thanks!
