    Vader skins

    Quick question for all of you. I have a very nice set of vader seats, in great condition. However, I want the "new" look. Current ones have no wear marks, holes, rips, or anything. Would it be wise to take these skins off and sell them or just sell the entire seats and get a crappy set of seats and put new skins on them? I'd appreciate any feed back on anyone who was faced with this issue. Thanks.

    I would base your decision on;

    •early style ( 92-mid 95) and later style seat (mid 95-99). Sell off or light on fire if early style.

    •if later style, foam condition is more important. Sell the skins and recover if you cannot get a replacement set with excellent foam.

    Any pics? I am a sucker for original skins and may buy them as a spare set

    I know exactly about the early seats. These are definitely the later model ones.

    Those are in nice condition, but I love that you're trying to a fresh set. As decent as those are, new is going to be amazing.

    Sell the skins, and keep what you have there. You have a solid seat and foam base to build off of. You're unlikely to find that in another seat purchase.

    If you feel like you want to refresh those first, get some proper leather detailing products that focus on degreasing. Your seats are super glossy and you might be surprised what you can do with those. Do not get caught up in trying to recondition them, just a leather cleaner only that is tough on oils.

    Yeah, I hate the shininess of the seats. I restored them by using leather magic and this is how they turned out. If I use a degreaser, will the color be lifted?

    Ah, that’s why. Your restoration needs a matte top coat to be fixed (oe leather is pigmented and then matte clear coated). Past that point though.

    Nevermind on my advice.

    So do you think I can sand them down and apply a matte finish?

    What about finding a local Interior shop? Maybe can make new skins using those.

    Where are you planning on sourcing the new skins?

    Truth is, only the driver's seat needs a redo...and if I do the that I'll need a new door panel, which I've not been able to find a source for.
